Sucre was our first stopover on the way to the Uyuni salt flats. It’s a colonial-style town with a fairly easy-to-navigate center. We stayed at Hotel San Francisco, which has a gorgeous inner courtyard and not-so-gorgeous rooms.
We spent valentine’s day evening at El Tapado and had a delicious dinner by ordering every one of their tapas items.
Our time in Sucre also furthered our negative experiences with Bolivianos. Nearly every single financial transaction we had involved being ripped off and having to argue for real prices, from the taxis to the laundry service to the food we ordered. We also met a backpacker who was violently mugged by a gang of five Bolivianos and had his phone and money stolen.
For buses to Uyuni, Tupiza and the Southwest, change in Potosí.
Buses leave hourly for Potosí and take 3-4 hours (you can also take a taxi for about 35Bs per person, it will take about two hours and the driver will go very very fast).

Really tasty typical style food and well-presented.
We ordered the Tabla de Tapas:
Came here for a good lunch and they delivered. Met the owner as well!
